The Eggbutt Snaffle, a commonly used snaffle bit, gets its name from the egg-shaped connection between the mouthpiece and bit rings. This shape minimizes the risk of pinching the horse's lips, as the mouthpiece widens at the sides and is further from the horse's mouth compared to a loose-ring snaffle. The jointed mouthpiece shown in this photo offers less movement within the horse's mouth compared to a loose-ring snaffle.
