About Us

Polo is what we know and love. From handmade mallets to the every day essentials for horse, rider and yard, Emita Polo brings together traditional craftsmanship, first-hand playing experience and a team who care about getting things right. 

Based in Midhurst, West Sussex, our shop and workshop are at the heart of everything we do. Come in for advice, bring us your well-loves mallets for repair, or find us out and about in the Emita Van. 

A NEW NAME, THE SAME CRAFTMANSHIP

Formerly know as Polo Splice, the business became Emita Polo when Emma Boers took over in 2024. With a new name and fresh ideas, we've continued to build on the skills, relationships and craftsmanship that made the business what it is. Scott and Biff stayed with us through that change, keeping their knowledge and experience at the centre of our workshop.

MEET THE TEAM

Emma - Founder & Managing Director. A former professional polo player and England Ladies international, Emma brings her knowledge of the game to the running of Emita Polo. She understands how personal equipment choices can be and wants every customer, from a complete beginner to a seasoned professional, to feel welcome and well looked after. 

Libby - Manager. Libby manages the shop, customers, accounts and helps keep the day to day running of Emita on track. From looking after customers to managing and supporting the team, she's a familiar face and an important part of the business. 

Phillie helps customers in the shop with their purchases, online orders and enquiries. Whether you're picking up a few essentials or adding to your kit, she's on hand to help. 

Harriet overseas operations and takes Emita on the road as our sales representative in the van. She brings the shop closer to the polo community, helping players and teams get the equipment they need out at the grounds and yards. 

Scott & Biff - Our expert mallet makers. With over 40 years of combined experience, Scott and Biff are the skilled hands behind our handmade mallets and repairs. They know the difference that length, weight, balance and finish can make, and bring that attention to every mallet that passes through the workshop. 

Over their careers, their work has supported players including Cambia's, Pelon Stirling, Carlos Gracida, Malcolm Borwick and James Harper. They bring the same care to mallets for young players, enthusiastic amateurs and professionals alike.

EMMA'S STORY

Emma first spotted polo on television at nine years old, watching a charity match from her hospital bed. She told her mum she wanted to try 'hockey on horses'. At 12, she had her first lesson, and that was it. 

Polo took her around the world as a professional player, including representing the England Ladies team. After a spinal injury brought her professional playing career to an end, Emita Polo became a way to stay closely involved in the sport and support the people playing it.
