What the F is FLEXXORB?

Well, FLEXXORB is an innovative material - it’s a cellular elastomeric foam based on natural rubber. Which basically means it’s super flexible, distributes pressure evenly and has excellent shock absorption. Without the bulk.

You want to feel secure and connected in the saddle. A pad that feels overly thick can interrupt that close-contact feel which is so important when communicating with your polo pony. Insufficient cushioning may not provide the support required during intense play. So, FLEXXORB allowed us to fix these issues.

What problems did you experience with traditional saddle pads?

“As an ex-professional player, I was always looking for ways to improve my horse’s comfort and performance. Through speaking with countless players and customers over the years, the same frustrations with traditional gel pads kept coming up. People found them heavy, they retained heat, collected dirt and hair, and because of the sticky gel surface, they often stuck to the horse’s back and could pull the horse’s hair when removing the saddle.

They were also a nightmare to keep clean and maintain, especially during a busy polo season. That’s what inspired us to create the Emita FLEXXORB Shock Saddle Pad. We wanted all the benefits of exceptional shock absorption and pressure distribution, but without the drawbacks of traditional gel. The FLEXXORB pad is around 25% lighter, highly breathable, doesn’t stick to the horses coat, is easy to clean, and still provides excellent stability while painting a close-contact feel between horse and rider.”

What made you decide to design a saddle pad specifically for polo, rather than stock another existing equestrian pad?

“Polo places completely different demands on both horse and rider. You’re playing at speed, turning sharply, leaning off the side of thesaddle and absorbing a huge amount of the space of a chukka. I couldn’t find a pad that combined close contact, lightweight performance and high-level shock absorption specifically for those demands. Rather than simply stocking another product, I wanted to create something that solved the issues I’d experienced throughout my own career. 

The result was the Emita FLEXXORB pad - designed specifically for polo players who want maximum protection without sacrificing feel or communication with their horse.”

What’s the biggest difference players will notice?

“The first thing most players notice is how light it feels. It doesn’t have that bulky, heavy feel you often get with gel. The second is the close contact. Even though it’s absorbing impact extremely well, you still feel connected to your horse. The pad also stays secure without sticking to the coat like traditional gel can, and because it’s highly breathable, both horse and rider stay more comfortable during long, fast games. It’s one of those products you don’t fully appreciate until you’ve played a few chukkas in it.”
